Caring for someone with Alzheimer’s or related dementia?
Here’s a memory care tip from ActivCare Living: Avoid multi-step tasks.
Requesting tasks with many steps will sometimes overwhelm someone with Alzheimer’s. Make one request at a time, when completed then ask for step two and so on. Simplifying a process is a must to help avoid confusion and improve communication. This is especially true if you are encountering a new process and it is not a part of the person’s normal routine. Those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia will feel more comfortable if presented with single, straight-forward directions.
