At the 2012 Alzheimer’s Association International Conference held in Vancouver earlier this summer, two studies of the effects of alcohol consumption and its effect on brain health later in life were released. Although light alcohol consumption is generally considered to have some health benefits, these studies highlight that the increase of usage later in life or the prolonged bingeing does have detrimental effects on brain health.
